Kayla and toddlers

HI FRIENDS!

I'm Kayla Kelly.

I'm married to my favorite guy on the planet, mama to Emmett, Judah, and Wilder James. THREE BOYS. We live on the outskirts of town and are slowly building a homestead. Our newest additions are Bone and Bessa the pigs, and Cow the...cow. You can usually find me in the kitchen digging through recipes, pounding down coffees, or let's be real, mom-ing hard because-- three boys(!).

I have always been an artist. For most of my life, that looked like me strumming a guitar and singing my heart out. Music is still at the soul of our household, but life has shifted in the last few years and photography has stamped itself firmly in my heart.

MY STORY

I remember my first digital camera. I was over the moon with it’s 8 megapixels and point-and-shoot simpleness. Being in middle school, I used it mostly for dressing up with my best friend and taking photos of each other on horses. I remember feeling really artistic as I took pictures of succulents and flowers, and my brother and I even made ridiculous music videos to our favorite Broadway songs.

I’ve come a long way since then, but that love of creating, of finding beauty in simple things, is still very much at the heart of what I do. This love has only grown and found deeper roots, especially since starting a family. As a mama, you learn to find beauty in literally everything (including poopy diapers and spaghetti sauce on walls).

After having Emmett, I wanted to pursue a career that would allow me to be with him more than my regular 9 to 5, and photography seemed like such a natural step. My son was only 4 months old when I made the leap. My husband and I invested in real equipment, classes, and mentors for my brand new baby business, and boy was that SCARY.

I look back and am just floored at my husbands support and encouragement, especially when I had doubts and second thoughts about running my own business! I knew it would be hard, exhilarating, and filled with ups and downs. The thing I didn’t expect was how fulfilling this job would become.

It is a JOY to photograph families, weddings, portraits…it is amazing to hand over a gallery and say here you go, something to treasure for the rest of your life. I know how much photos mean to people, because they mean that much to me! I believe in the power of human connection, and seeing it captured in a way you can always look back on…it fills me up.

I believe that this job has a beautiful purpose.

I am so grateful for the many people who have supported this dream along the way. And I’m grateful for you- my past, present and future clients who make what I do possible. You supply the reason, the content, for such a beautiful art.
