I couldn’t ask for a better way to kick off wedding season ‘2019 than with this sweet duo. Daniela is a firecracker from Germany, world traveler, and laughing enthusiast– the first time we met I could tell we just CLICKED. We probably talked for 30 minutes straight while Robert hung back, smiling at us and giving out loving glances to her like candy. That is the theme with these two… even though they are from different backgrounds, cultures, and continents…they love and compliment each other so much. They have aaaaaall the feels.

They rented a beautiful home on the Columbia River, had Daniela’s family fly out all the way from Germany, and said “I do” under a gazebo in English and German. The cultures intertwined so beautifully. I think one of my favorite parts was learning the significance of the bow on her dress–In Germany, the unmarried woman wears that on her left side. After the vows are spoken and they are official, they ceremoniously move the bow from left to right. It is such a sweet tradition and I feel so lucky to have have seen it for myself. Her and her sister both wore traditional German dresses called Dirndl.

This was a beautiful, intimate ceremony with just close family and friends. They plan on having the big wedding in a castle in Europe next year (fingers crossed they need a Chelan photographer for that?!?!). I am so excited for Daniela & Robert. I truly hope that their love for each other, and the support of their families carries them through the good and bad, the closeness and distance, the young and old. I believe it will. And I’m so honored and thankful to have been their photographer.
