INTIMATE LAKE CHELAN ELOPEMENT. When I was 17, I moved out of my parent’s house and in with a girl I found on a Craigslist ad. “Room for Rent”. Eight years later…I’m taking her wedding photos on top of a mountain. Shooting this elopement was one of the great privileges, not only in my photography business but in my life.
Sarah and Jesse have one of those adorable stories. You know, the kind of story where they share the same kindergarten photo. They both were born and raised in Lake Chelan and had a similar circle of friends. Crazy enough, they didn’t notice each other until they both grew up, moved away, and came back home. I think the timing was perfect, for both of them. I have never met a couple better matched for each other!! They take life and their relationship on their own terms, carving out a path that fits them and not everybody’s else standards or expectations. It is so inspiring to be around!
I think that is one reason this elopement was so so special. It was completely unique to them, and exactly what they wanted out of such an intimate day! The ceremony was beautiful in every way possible. They picked out the mountain backdrop and hacked a little “aisle” weeks beforehand. They carved their initials into a burnt tree. Their vows were written together; each promise worded carefully and thoughtfully and full of heart. Oh my goodness I could barely see through my lens the vows made me cry so hard!
They wanted the ceremony to be intimate and small, but they still wanted to include their family and friends! The people who matter most in their life got the entire evening to celebrate and eat together (and the next evening too!).
